Count on Alfa Laval at Nor-Shipping 2015
Nor-Shipping, the leading international forum for Northern European maritime industry, will take place 2-5 June at Norges Varemesse in Oslo. Visitors to Hall E02 will find Alfa Laval with big news in exhaust gas cleaning and ballast water treatment, along with exciting developments for new fuels and more.
As Nor-Shipping celebrates its 50th year, still more significant numbers will be featured in the Alfa Laval stand. The theme “Count on Alfa Laval” will quantify Alfa Laval’s role as the reliable partner for meeting legislation, adapting to new fuels, reducing costs and optimizing equipment over the long term.
Alfa Laval’s location at Nor-Shipping will be Hall E02, Stand 20. Information and events will be updated regularly at www.alfalaval.com/norshipping2015, but a number of highlights are already clear.
A complete approach to ECA compliance
Vessels in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) must choose between switching to distillate or cleaning their exhaust gas. Alfa Laval has solutions for either approach. The Alfa Laval Automated Fuel Changeover System (ACS) safeguards viscosity and lubricity in the transition between fuels, while Alfa Laval PureSOx effectively removes sulphur from the exhaust. Visitors to the stand can learn not only about today’s solutions, but also about the inline version of PureSOx that will soon begin onboard testing.
Multiple advances in the Pure Thinking portfolio
Alfa Laval has a full range of solutions for environmental compliance, and the possibilities within the Pure Thinking portfolio are expanding. In addition to the inline development of Alfa Laval PureSOx, visitors will be introduced to major developments of Alfa Laval PureBallast, which has now been certified for use in all three water types: fresh, brackish and marine. Alfa Laval PureDry will also be present, allowing visitors to explore waste fuel recovery, sludge minimization and the creation of an integrated waste oil and bilge water handling system together with Alfa Laval PureBilge.
New solutions for alternative fuels
Alfa Laval’s cutting-edge work with fuel technology extends beyond traditional fuels to emerging fuel alternatives. Having developed a booster system for methanol, Alfa Laval is currently pursuing booster systems for other low-flashpoint fuels and is now licensed to work with DSME’s dual-fuel booster concept for LNG. The Alfa Laval CorHex printed-circuit heat exchanger, a vital component of the high-pressure LNG booster, will be featured in the stand.
The forefront of boiler control
With its clear graphical overview and uniquely intuitive two-touch navigation, Alfa Laval Touch Control is the new standard of control for marine boilers. Durable, flexible and future-proof, this PLC-based control technology allows faster and easier navigation, more efficient operation and a range of ways to optimize boiler plant operation. The touchscreen interface, which is being rolled out for both new and existing Alfa Laval Aalborg boilers, will be on hand for visitors to experience.
Extending performance
Service is a vital part of any marine solution, and visitors will have the possibility to explore both new and existing offerings for extending equipment performance. Among them will be the Alfa Laval Automatic Fuel Efficiency Module (AFEM) for use with Alfa Laval Smit Gas FU inert gas generators. By adjusting the fuel oil and combustion air to match the actual demand, the AFEM can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40% when producing inert gas on tankers or floating production systems.
Events and further information
Throughout the exhibition, Alfa Laval experts will be present to discuss key systems and new product developments. During a number of topical events in the stand, they will also explore today’s pressing industry challenges and show how Alfa Laval is at the forefront of meeting them.
Details of events and other developments will be posted on Alfa Laval’s Nor-Shipping campaign site. To learn more – please visit www.alfalaval.com/norshipping2015
